---- — The Batesville High School girls golf team kicked off the season at the Richmond Invitational on Monday.
The Lady Bulldogs placed fifth in an 8-team field at Highland Lake Golf Course.
Pendleton Heights took the team title with a 338 followed by Connersville (348) and Union County (360). Batesville was six strokes behind Rushville with a 380. Richmond, Franklin County and Muncie Central rounded out the field
Batesville was led by Madison McCreary with a second place overall finish. McCreary carded an 18-hole score of 77 on the par 72 course.
Meg Liter was second for the Lady Bulldogs with a 97. Samantha Heidlage added a 102, including an eagle on the par 5, 17th hole. Madison Harsh (105) and Isabella Stange (120) rounded out the scores for Batesville.
The Lady Bulldogs followed up one day later with a second place finish at the Union County Invitational.
The host Lady Patriots won the team title with a score of 372. Batesville followed with 406, while Richmond (416), Chatard (425) and Wapahani (471) rounded out the top five.
McCreary led the BHS team to a second place finish in the 7-team field at Liberty Country Club. She carded a medalist score of 79 for 18 holes.
Heidlage was second on the team with a 99 followed by Harsh (111) and Gabby Cooper (117). Maggie Schwettman also competed for the Lady Bulldogs.
Batesville will next be in action on Saturday at the annual Greensburg Invitational.
