The Batesville American Legion Post 271 baseball team suffered a 15-5 loss to St. Leon at Liberty Park.
Batesville scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a one run lead.
It proved to be their only lead of the game.
St. Leon answered with three runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to take a 10-2 advantage.
Batesville managed two runs in the fifth to pull within in six.
St. Leon put the game out of reach with five more runs in the top of the sixth.
Tyler Hunter got the start on the mound for Post 271. He went three innings and suffered the loss. Ben Baumer and Shawn Burcham pitched in relief for Batesville.
Offensively, Batesville finished with 11 hits compared to 18 by St. Leon.
Chris Meyer, Ryan Miller, and Austin McIntyre each had two hits for Batesville. Miller led the team with two RBI, while Meyer and Chris Drew each had one.
Other hits for Batesville came from Jason Eckstein, Parker Blessing, Brian Beard, Hunter and Drew.
