The shots fell early for the North Decatur Chargers and the Batesville Bulldogs did not have much of an answer.

The Bulldogs kept the game close and eventually pulled away from the visiting Chargers to post a 67-54 victory in boys varsity basketball action.

It was a much different look on offense for the Bulldogs. Batesville scored more points in the first half than they did the entire game in their most recent loss to Franklin County.

Senior Zach Meyer and junior Wes Goldsmith gave the Bulldogs a nice spark from the perimeter, which is something that has been lacking over the past few games.

Meyer scored a game-high 16 points and Goldsmith added 15.

The Chargers were impressive in the first half as they tallied 37 points, which gave them a two point lead at the break.

North junior Isaac Loechle did most of the damage with four 3-pointers and a team-high 22 points. Alex Pulskamp had a solid game in the post with nine points, while Tyler Brown hit a trio of 3-pointers for nine.

The Bulldogs improved to 9-3 on the season and North fell to 10-5.

The Bulldogs and Chargers battled through two overtimes before a winner was established in the junior varsity contest.

After the two teams went scoreless in the first overtime, the Bulldogs put up four in the second extra session to post a 41-39 victory.

Freshman John Hammersmith scored 15 points to lead the Chargers followed by Jesse Elsner with 11.

Batesville was led in scoring by Luke Williams with 12. Connor Jeffers and Mike Hoeing each had eight points.
