The Jac-Cen-Del Eagles wrapped up what they started Wednesday night with a win over the Batesville Bulldogs.

The Eagles answered with a 60-46 victory over the South Ripley Raiders to capture the Ripley County tournament title in basketball.

Coach David Bradshaw’s crew set the tempo early and held on the rest of the way.

Jac-Cen-Del senior Justin Huff scored seven of his team high 15 points in the first quarter to help give the Eagles a 15-5 lead at the first break.

It proved to be the difference in the game.

The Raiders played even with the Eagles the next three quarters, but could not trim the lead to less than 12 points at any of the next three quarter breaks.

South Ripley managed to cut the deficit to single digits in the fourth quarter, but the Eagles were able to hold off the charge.

The Eagles were 13-of 14 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to preserve the victory.

Huff’s 15 points led the Eagles in scoring, while Matt Gehl finished with 13 points and Blake Sutton with nine. Tucker Brown added eight from his center position.

The Raiders were led offensively by Michael Fear with 13 points and 10 from Chris Miller.
