The Batesville Herald-Tribune
---- — Dear Editor,
The Batesville United Methodist Church recently served as a drop-off center for the Samaritan’s Purse program called Operation Christmas Child. The outpouring of donations from individuals, organizations and churches in this area was heart-warming. Those shoeboxes will certainly be appreciated by those children all over the world who will receive their gift box filled with toys, gifts and personal items. They will learn about the love of God and about the joy of giving during the Christmas season.
We wish to thank the congregation of Batesville United Methodist Church for their donation of time to work during our national collection week, for donating filled shoeboxes and for spreading the word about this worthwhile cause to the surrounding community.
We thank all of the churches and individuals who donated the filled shoeboxes, as well as those who delivered them to our drop-off center. The Batesville site collected a total of 528 shoeboxes.
Finally, we say thank you to Keith Crum and his staff at Crum Trucking Co. for the use of a truck and for the delivery of the shoeboxes to the Muncie collection site. We were able to share this blessing of transportation with the Greensburg drop-off location. All of you made a difference in the lives of children all over the world, spreading good news and great joy. We encourage everyone to continue your support in the years ahead.
