Fundraiser benefits health center

The Batesville Herald-Tribune

---- — Dear Editor,

We are truly amazed and humbled by the support of our generous community as they assisted in the well-attended first annual fundraiser for the Southeast Indiana Health Center held at the Batesville Knights of Columbus Hall in January.

A sincere thanks goes to the K of C; Ripley County Community Foundation; Marcy Wurtz and Jim Saner, who coordinated the fundraiser; and many other local businesses, groups and individuals too numerous to mention.

The $26,950 raised will go a long way to help SEIHC open the doors a little wider in 2014 for the uninsured in Ripley and Franklin counties.

At the newly-opened health center, there are 12 doctors, three nurse practitioners, one physician assistant, 28 nurses and 18 clerical volunteers who assist uninsured patients. Since opening June 4, 2013, there have been a total of 281 registered patients and 476 appointments kept.

If you are interested in volunteering or to find out more about the Southeast Indiana Health Center, visit or call 932-4515. Tax-deductible donations may be sent to Ripley County Community Foundation at 4 S. Park Ave., Suite 210, Batesville, IN 47006 with SEIHC noted in the memo line.

With sincerest gratitude,

SEIHC manager Paul Tyrer and executive board members Linda Tuttle, Dr. Stephen Glaser, Geralyn Litzinger, the Rev. Roger Dean, Pete Mack, Connie DeBurger and Bev Metze
