Ralph A. Faust, 88

— Ralph A. Faust, 88, Morris, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at The Waters of Batesville.

Born March 15, 1924, in Batesville, he was the son of Nellie (Springman) and John Faust. He married Alice Lohman Feb. 7, 1948, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Morris.

Ralph served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Batesville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3183 and St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Ralph was the owner of Faust Flooring Co. He installed linoleum and carpeting for 35 years before retiring in 1995. His family stated that he was very particular with his work and took great pride knowing that every detail was done right. He was a “hard worker,” having done many installations in homes around the area and several churches, including St. Anthony’s and St. Paul’s Catholic Church, New Alsace. At some point through the years, Ralph’s sons worked with their dad in the business and son Tom actually worked with him up until his retirement.

Ralph over the years was known by many close friends as “Rip.” He loved to go fishing and spending time in the garden. He also enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels and spent a lot of time with his dog Cuddles. According to his family, he loved Alice’s meat loaf and mashed potatoes.

He is survived by his wife; daughters and son-in-laws Karol and Dennis Ingersoll and Pat and Kevin Stenger, Sunman; sons and daughter-in-laws Greg and Charlene Faust, Batesville, Tom and Annette Faust, Greensburg, Bob and Karen Faust, Brookville,  and Rick Faust, Batesville; sisters Eunice (Francis) Riehle, Sunman, and Virginia (Virgil) Werner, Batesville; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Norbert Faust, and granddaughter, Emily Ann Faust.

Visitation is Wednesday, Jan. 16, from 9-11 a.m. at Weigel Funeral Home after a rosary service at 8:45 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Rev. Pascal Nduka officiating.

The burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by Batesville VFW Post 3183 and Prell-Bland American Legion Post 271.

Memorials may be made to the St. Anthony Cemetery Fund or Morris Volunteer Fire Department.
