Billy Gene Whitfield, 73

BATESVILLE — Billy Gene Whitfield, 73, passed away Monday evening, Nov. 19, 2012, at Lincoln Centers, Connersville.

He was born May 11, 1939, in Connersville, the son of William Ezra and Jama Elizabeth Duke Whitfield. A graduate of Connersville High School, he also attended several college courses before serving with the U. S. Air Force.

On June 18, 1966, he married Rose Marie Obermeyer at Holy Family Catholic Church, Oldenburg. She preceded him in death Nov. 11, 2010.

For 30 years, he was employed at Philco-Ford and its predecessors, retiring from Visteon. He was a faithful member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church.

Survivors include six brothers-in-law: Jerry Obermeyer and wife Jeanne, Gilbert Obermeyer and wife Kay Lynn, Ronnie Obermeyer, Robert Obermeyer, Eddie Obermeyer and Richard Obermeyer and wife Pat, all of Oldenburg; and a number of nieces and nephews-in-law.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation is Monday, Nov. 26, from 9-11 a.m. with a rosary service at 9:30 a.m.  at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 232 W. 9th St., Connersville. The Rev. Stanley Herber will officiate the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at the church. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Oldenburg.
