Virgil John Meyer Sr., 76

Virgil John Meyer Sr., 76, Okeana, Ohio, passed away Monday, July 29, 2013.

Meyer was born to Rosemary (Bedel) and John F. Meyer Sr. in Batesville Nov. 17, 1936.

The 1955 Batesville High School graduate worked for Cincinnati Milacron as an electrical engineer and was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Harrison, Ohio, and Knights of Columbus. 

The U.S. Army veteran was the devoted husband of 51 years to Georgia (Perry) Meyer, Okeana, Ohio; loving father of Virgil Jr. (Shirley), Iowa; Jerry (Lisa), Dave (Shannon) and Kenny (Jenny Schultz) Meyer, Harrison, Ohio; wonderful Papa of Heather (Cory) Reusch, Derrick Huffman, Kyle (Taryn) Collins-Meyer, Alex, Matt, Bradley, Caitlin, Ashley and Briana Meyer; great-Papa of Peyton Reusch; beloved brother of Shirley (John) Rennekamp and Gerald (Kathy) Meyer, Sunman, Mary (Herbie) Moorman and Janet (the late Dave) Rehberger, Oldenburg, Norman (Lucy) Meyer, Batesville, John (Pam) Meyer, Greensburg, Harold Meyer, Owensburg, and Greg Meyer, Hamburg; and many nieces and nephews. 

Preceding him in death were his parents and sister Laverne Goedl.

Visitation is Friday, Aug. 2, from 4-8 p.m. at Brater-Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine St., Harrison. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, Aug. 3, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 508 Park Ave., Harrison.
