Andrew H. Hanna, 63

Andrew H. Hanna, 63, Batesville, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at Margaret Mary Health.

Born Oct. 19, 1949, in Milan, he was the son of Jeanette (Hughes) and Henry Hanna. He married Carol Pulskamp June 17, 1995, at Batesville United Methodist Church. He worked for the Indiana Department of Transportation for nearly 20 years before retiring.

Andy absolutely adored his grandchildren. He took great pleasure in teasing and tormenting them and even greater pleasure in bragging about them. When he wasn't busy with the grandkids, Andy enjoyed being outdoors rabbit, squirrel and deer hunting and loved to go fishing. According to the family, he was particular about the lawn and not only took care of his, but several of his neighbors'. He had a sweet tooth that included blackberry cobbler and strawberry shortcake among his favorites, but would have to cut back on sweets in recent years. Andy liked the TV show "Duck Dynasty" and was a big fan of NHRA Drag Racing, the Little League World Series and college football. Other pleasures included working crossword puzzles and a good cigar.

Andy is survived by his wife; daughter Shannon Spurlock, Batesville; brother Larry, North Vernon; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation is Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 4-7 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services are Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, Oldenburg, with the Rev. David Kobak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to Hospice of Margaret Mary Health or the American Heart Association.
