Suzanne “Suzie” Afterkirk, 52

BATESVILLE — Suzanne “Suzie” Afterkirk, 52, Coshocton, Ohio, died Thursday, July 14, 2011, at home with family by her side after a valiant battle with cancer.

The daughter of Faye Marie (Totten) Norman and the late Robert Dale Norman was born Feb. 11, 1959, in Coshocton.

A 1977 graduate of River View High School, she also attended the Newark Campus of Ohio State University. During her career, she was employed as a legal secretary for the office of Pomerene, Burns and Skelton, in management at Dresden Fitness Center and in human resources at AFP, and, most recently, ITM Marketing.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Jeff Afterkirk, Coshocton, formerly of Metamora, whom she married in Jamaica June 21, 2007; a daughter, Jandi (Jared) Adams with grandchild Jordan, Coshocton; a son, Joe Bigrigg, Coshocton; a brother, Steve (Sher) Norman, Denver; two sisters, Sandra Melick, Granville, Ohio, and Sharon (Ron) Kaufman, Warsaw, Ohio; nieces and nephews Brian Norman, Taylor and Jarred Melick, Catelin (Alex) Bales and Chelsie and Cassie Kaufman; her mother-in-law and companion Mary Jo Siedling and Paul Nobbe, Brookville; many dear friends; and her cherished pet, a German shepherd named Cooper.

Suzie loved traveling with her husband. She enjoyed shopping and weekends camping with friends and spending time at Metamora, where she hoped to retire someday with Jeff. She was also a big fan of NASCAR, OSU and the Cleveland Browns.

Suzie cherished life each and every day. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.

In honor of her wishes, a celebration of her life will take place for family and friends Friday, Aug. 5, at 6 p.m. at the Sportsmen\'s Club, Coshocton.
