Verna B. “Jean” Hummel, 66

— Verna B. “Jean” Hummel, 66, Seymour, formerly of Greensburg, passed away Monday March 4, 2013, at Community Hospital South, Indianapolis.

The daughter of Frank Sr. and Frances (Voiles) Moore was born June 29, 1946, in Guilford.  

Hummel was a member of the Seymour First Nazarene Church. She worked at Batesville Casket Co. for 38 years and also at KB Foods.

She married Robert L. Hummell March 26, 1966, in Laurel, and he preceded her in death June 13, 1998.

She is survived by her mother; one daughter: Kelly (David) Couch, Seymour; one son: Daniel (Stephanie) Hummell, Shelbyville; three sisters: Sue Howard,  Greensburg, Ann (Tom) Dwenger, Gwynnville, and Sandra Smeal, Greensburg; and one brother: Bill Moore, Greensburg. Six grandchildren also survive.

Friends may call at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, Greensburg, Friday, March 8, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. followed by the service officiated by Pastor Steve Green. Burial will follow in Rossburg Cemetery.
