Avolyn M. Roth, 92, Batesville, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at St. Andrews Health Campus.
Born Feb. 12, 1921, in Batesville, she was the daughter of Matilda (Brummer) and Vernon Robbins. She married Carl Roth Nov. 16, 1946, at the St. Louis Parsonage. He preceded her in death Feb. 20, 2000.
Avolyn was a beautician, homemaker and member of St. Louis Catholic Church. An animal lover, Avolyn especially loved cats. Her family can’t recall a time she didn’t have one or two around the house as pets. She also was an avid sports fan and liked following the Reds and Batesville basketball on the radio. For many years, she quilted, along with raising a small garden in the backyard and canned what she grew.
Her family teased about her love of watching afternoon soap operas and her weakness for hoagies from Ison’s Family Pizza. They also remember what a fantastic cook she was, particularly her turtle soup and casseroles.
Avolyn is survived by her sons Randy, Batesville, and Dennis, Greensburg; grandchildren Angela, Natalie, Kirk and Craig Roth; as well as four great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Donald Robbins.
Visitation is Friday, March 15, from 9-11 a.m. at Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Louis Church with the Rev. Randy Summers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family requests memorials to St. Louis School or St. Andrews Health Campus Activity Fund.
