Consolata Kuhn, OSF, 97

— Sister Consolata Kuhn, OSF, 97, of the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg, died Friday, March 1, 2013, at the convent.

Born Oct. 24, 1915, in Cincinnati, she was the daughter of Mary and Michael Kuhn.

She entered the convent Oct. 28, 1934, and made her final vows July 2, 1940. A teacher, she taught at St. Mary’s, Bloomington, Ill.; St. Joseph’s, Shelbyville; Oldenburg Academy; St. Francis Seraph, Our Lady of Angels High School, Roger Bacon High School and St. Clement’s, Cincinnati; Badin High School, Hamilton, Ohio; St. Peter’s, Chillicothe, Ohio; and St. Monica’s, Kansas City, Mo.

Sister Consolata had a calm nature and fun personality. Early in her teaching career, she taught elementary grades and later became a high school biology teacher. She loved nature and kept her students engaged by keeping the learning interesting and current. After retiring from teaching, she accepted a formation position, assisting new members with their adjustment to community life in the convent. Her grace, kindness and gentle demeanor were well suited for this.

She is survived by nieces Cheryl Popp, Cincinnati, and Dianne Chander, Troy, Mich.; nephew Robert Kuhn, Aptos, Calif.; four great- nieces; three great-nephews; two great-great-nieces; and two great-great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Nicholas Kuhn; and nephew Donald Kuhn.

Visitation is Tuesday, March 5, from 1-3 p.m. followed by the service officiated by the Rev. Carl Hawver, OFM, at the Motherhouse Chapel, Oldenburg. Burial follows in the convent cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis. Weigel Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
