Margaret E. Giesting-Jones, 80, Batesville, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014, at St. Andrews Health Campus.
On Sept. 1, 1933, in Middletown, Ohio, Margaret was born to Robert E. and Ethel (Jackson) Martin.
She married John Giesting Oct. 25, 1958, and he preceded her in death Dec. 22, 1969. On May 4, 1985, Margaret married William Jones, and he, too, passed away June 3, 2004.
Margaret was a homemaker and also worked at Nolte’s Pharmacy for many years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Oldenburg, the Pocahontas, Batesville Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and Fraternal Order of Eagles. Margaret loved to bowl and even won a trophy in her favorite pastime. She also enjoyed playing bingo with others.
She is survived by one son: James Giesting, Oldenburg; three daughters: Patricia Wagner, Batesville, Barbara Laughlin, Newark, Ohio, and Cheryl Groce, Brookville; her stepson William Jones, Batesville; two stepdaughters: Gerri Schwegman and Nancy Kruthaupt, Batesville; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; along with her brother, Joseph Martin, Batesville; and two sisters: Dorothy Werner, Batesville, and Joanie Budd, Mitchell.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son Gerald Giesting and siblings Robert Martin and Rose Marie Martin.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Holy Family Church Cemetery.
