Sylvia M. (Baker) Fasbinder, 91, Brookville and formerly of Oldenburg, died Saturday, Feb, 8, 2014, at Margaret Mary Health, Batesville.
She was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Franklin County to Louis and Mabel (Meyers) Baker. Sylvia married August Fasbinder Sr. Oct. 17, 1942, and he preceded her in death Nov. 5, 1986. She was a member of the American Legion, Eagles and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Sylvia was an avid card player and particularly liked to play Texas Hold 'Em.
Those surviving who will honor Sylvia's memory include her children, August "Buddy" (Kathy) Fasbinder, Punta Gorda, Fla., Louie Fasbinder and Penny (Harold) Harrison, Brookville, and Ron (Peg) Fasbinder, Batesville; brother Bud Baker, Metamora; sisters Dorothy Riley and Mildred Slagle, Metamora; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Dustin Fasbinder; one great-grandson, Wyatt Fasbinder; and eight brothers and sisters.
Visitation for friends and family will be from 3-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 2:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at Cook Funeral Home, 929 Main St., Brookville. A Mass of Christian Burial, held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Oldenburg, with the Rev. David Kobak officiating, begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
