William E. Buening, 76, Greensburg, passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital, Greensburg.
Born Jan. 28, 1937, in Decatur County, he was the son of Ferd J. and Ida H. (Obermeyer) Buening. He was married to Wilma Brancamp June 24, 1958, and she survives.
He was a farmer and tool and die maker. The Napoleon High School graduate was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greensburg, and the Hoosier Carvers Club.
He is also survived by two sons: Michael (Lisa) Buening, Franklin, and Kenneth (Nancy) Buening, Greensburg; three daughters: Theresa Caffee and Janet (Bob) Henry, Greensburg, and Katrina (Rickey) Applegate, North Vernon; four brothers: Carl (Marilyn) Buening, Maurice (Mary Jane) Buening and Paul (Anna) Buening, Greensburg, and James (Sue) Buening, Cicero; two sisters: Joann (Ed) Burkhart and Rita (Jim) Meyer, Greensburg; 18 grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons-in-law, Junior Bowling and Bill Caffee.
After a 3:30 p.m. public rosary service for family and friends, visitation is Thursday, Aug. 15, from 4-8 p.m. at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home, Greensburg. Funeral services are Friday, Aug. 16, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. John Meyer officiating. Interment will be held in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery, Millhousen.
