Mary Lou Cox, 80

Mary Lou Cox, 80, Brookville, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, following a brief illness.

The daughter of James Burgess McMillan Jr. and Florence Ida (McConnell) McMillan was born Jan. 16, 1933, in Metamora (Gates Branch).

She attended Metamora Grade School and Brookville High School. On July 8, 1950, Mary Lou married Albert Cox at the Church of Christ, Brookville, and he preceded her in death Aug. 24, 1993. The lifelong Franklin County resident was always quick and proud to claim Metamora as her hometown. For more than 20 years, Mary Lou was a special education driver and retired from Franklin County Community Schools. Previously she had been employed as a production supervisor with Jay Garment Co., Brookville.

Those surviving who will honor Mary Lou's memory include three sons: Randy (Becky) Cox and Ron Cox, Brookville, and Rick (Wanda) Cox, Batesville; six grandsons: James, Blooming Grove, Jason (Jamie) , Connersville, Wesley (Aimee) and Scott, Brookville, and Darrick (Casey) and Errick (Amanda), Batesville; 13 great-grandchildren: Noah, Kendall, Kodi, James, Whitney, Jason, Jacob, Carlie, Kenzie, Cameron, Colton, Billy and Allie; three sisters: Hazel (Edgar) Shell, Brookville, Louise (Ken) Bruner, Snellville, Ga., and Brenda Tomlin, Connersville; and one brother: Alvin (Emma) McMillan, Cedar Grove.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Charles and Roy.

Visitation for friends and family will be Sunday, Sept. 8, from 4-8 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, Brookville. Terry Cochran will officiate the funeral service there Monday, Sept. 9, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Brookville. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Personal condolences can be left for the family at www.cookfuneral.com.
