Marguerite Louise Fields, 82, Oldenburg, passed away Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at St. Andrews Health Campus.
The daughter of Herman and Marguerite Koors was born Aug. 26, 1931, in Greensburg. She was a 1949 graduate of Greensburg High School and then furthered her education attending Marian College, University of Cincinnati and IUPUI. On April 24, 1954, in Greensburg, she married Paul Fields, who passed away in 1991.
Marguerite taught first and second grades at St. Mary’s Catholic School for 30 years. She was a member of Holy Family Parish in Oldenburg, a lay associate for the Sisters of St. Francis, a eucharistic minister and also taught CCD and RCIA. The avid sports fan enjoyed traveling, needlework and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters: Paula Johnson, Cincinnati, Jane (Doug) Weigel, Oldenburg, and Connie (Gary) Johnston, Windsor, Colo.; eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Marianne Schroeder and Frances "Liz" John; and three brothers: George, Bill and James Koors.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 24, from 2 p.m. until the 4 p.m. funeral Mass at the Sisters of St. Francis Chapel, Oldenburg. Interment will be Friday, Oct. 25, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Greensburg. Memorial contributions may be given to the Associates of St. Francis or Sisters of St. Francis.
