Gerald H. Fasbinder, 73

Gerald H. Fasbinder, 73, Batesville, died at Margaret Mary Community Hospital Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007.

The son of the late William and Rose (Brockman) Fasbinder was born in Oldenburg Oct. 14, 1934, and married Marcia (Fehlinger) Fasbinder Dec. 26, 1955, at St. Louis Catholic Church.

He was a Batesville Casket Co. inventory controller for 47 years, then was a driver for Marilyn’s Country Bouquet for five years. Fasbinder served on the Batesville City Council and Batesville Parks and Recreation Board from 1972 to 1992. The Batesville Bulldogs booster and former Knights of Columbus Council 1461 Grand Knight and member also was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church Choir for over 50 years. After high school, the avid baseball fan continued to play for 20 years in the Tri-County Baseball League.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters: Paula Volz, Sunman, and Sondra Prickel, Patti Borgman and Suzanne Westerfeld, Batesville; three sons: Mark Fasbinder, Indianapolis, Scott Fasbinder, Batesville, and Dan Fasbinder, Jacksonville, Fla.; 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by his stepfather, Edward Dwenger.

Visitation is Friday, Oct. 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a rosary service at 7 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis Duvelius will officiate the funeral Saturday, Oct. 27, at 11 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Louis School or Batesville EMS 10.
