David P. Laudick, 72

David P. Laudick, 72, Batesville, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at Margaret Mary Health.

Born Jan. 24, 1942, in Batesville, he was the son of the late Sarah (Brokering) and Leo Laudick. He married Judy Robinson Oct. 31, 1964, at St. Louis Catholic Church and the couple would have celebrated their 50th anniversary this fall.

He was an office manager for Hill-Rom, retiring in 2006 after 45 years.

Dave was passionate about sports and played quite a bit of basketball, baseball and softball during his younger days and served as the coach and organizer of the Knights of Columbus softball team for years. A dedicated lifelong Batesville High School basketball fan, he was also active working with local youth, coaching basketball for St. Louis School and Little League baseball for several years as well.

As he got older, he would trade his ball spikes for golf spikes and eagerly anticipated his yearly golf trip to Myrtle Beach with a group of very special friends.

Other activities Dave enjoyed included deer, squirrel, turkey and rabbit hunting; keeping his grass mowed; and being a regular at the Brau Haus for lunch. Tuba’s was another favorite stop, where he would play seven-up, euchre, rummy or “any other card game he thought he could cheat at,” his family teased.

His pride and joy were his grandchildren. His family is extremely proud of Dave for choosing to participate in the organ donor program, giving selflessly of himself so others might have better lives.

He is survived by his wife; sons and daughters-in-law Heath and Michelle, Loveland, Ohio, Jason and Julie, Batesville, Josh and Sandy, Sunman, and Jared and Lauren, Hamburg; sisters Virginia Meyerrose, Greensburg, and Doris Wenning, Cincinnati; and grandchildren Kirsten, Abigail, Sarah, Evan, Grace, Hunter, Jack, Brice and Lola.

He was also preceded in death by his sister, Jacqueline Laudick.

Visitation is Sunday, Feb. 23, from 1-5 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Enochsburg, with the Rev. Bill Ehalt officiating. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Batesville Athletic Boosters or Batesville EMS 10.
