Gary Glenn Sauerwein, 56, Peppertown, passed away suddenly Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014.
He was born Oct. 20, 1957, to William and Betty (Griffin) Sauerwein in Los Angeles. They both survive in Batesville.
Gary married his wife, Kathy Rosfeld, in Versailles Feb. 18, 1978. The U.S. Navy veteran enlisted in the Navy at 16 years old with the help of his parents, and served during the Vietnam War.
Gary loved music. He loved playing his guitar and played with a popular local group called Tuxx in the '80s. Motorcycles and cars were also favorite hobbies of Gary’s. He enjoyed riding his bikes. Gary owned both a Goldwing and a Harley along with two Corvettes. Mostly he loved his family and being with them. He cherished his granddaughters and will be missed by all of his family and his many friends.
He is also survived by his wife; daughters Heather (Brad) Davis, Yuma, Ariz., and Niki Sauerwein, Peppertown; son Justin Sauerwein, Peppertown; granddaughters Ella and Maddie Davis; brother Steve Sauerwein, Brookville; and sisters Jacqui Haynes, South Carolina, Linda and Vivian Schwab, Brookville, and Rhonda Murdock, Hidden Valley Lake.
Visitation and the service were Thursday, Feb. 20, at Meyers Funeral Home. Col. Harold Shackelford officiated military services afterwards there. Memorials may be given to ABATE (American Bikers Aimed Toward Education) of Indiana. Online condolences may be made at www.meyersfuneralhomes.com.
