Viola Borgman

Viola Elizabeth Borgman, 94, Batesville, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at St. Andrews Health Campus.

She was born June 29, 1919, in Batesville and was the daughter of Charles and Christine (Huth) Schmid. The Batesville High School graduate and member of St. Louis Catholic Church married Ernie Borgman Oct. 2, 1937, and he preceded her in death in January 1971.

Viola loved playing bingo and cards all her life. She loved to cook and bake and made many Sunday dinners, but her family laughed at the thought that she loved a clean kitchen and sometimes started cleaning up after them even before dinner was over. After her husband, Ernie, bought a van, Viola also enjoyed the many times they would load the family up in it and go for a long drive. Viola was not an outdoor person, and her family said she was not famous, but she sure was nice and a good church person.

Viola is survived by her daughters Nancy Allen, Batesville, Margie (Edward) Belmer, Batesville and Linda Denninger, Columbus; and sons Ron (Judy) Borgman, Bryan, Ohio, and Eugene (Linda) Borgman, Batesville. She will also be missed by 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son Jim Borgman, sister Berdella Borgman and one infant sister.

A private funeral blessing will be held for the family Friday, May 16, at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville. Burial will follow in St. Louis Church Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association. Online condolences may be made at www.meyersfuneralhomes.com.
