Robert Andres, 57, Hamilton, Ohio, formerly of St. Leon, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Kettering Medical Center, Dayton, Ohio.
He was the son of William and Antoinette Andres. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in St. Leon.
The 20-year U.S. Air Force veteran retired as a lieutenant colonel. He served in Panama during the capture of dictator Manuel Noriega and also a year in Korea. The life member of an Ohio Veterans of Foreign Wars post also was a St. Joseph American Legion Post 464, St. Leon, member.
He also is survived by three sons: Jason (Brittaney) Andres, Eclectic, Ala., Shawn (Jennifer) Andres, San Antonio, and Patrick Andres, St. Leon; two daughters: Laura Andres, Indianapolis, and Michelle Andres, St. Leon; five grandchildren; ex-wife Betty Andres, St. Leon; one brother: Ron (Jane) Andres, St. Leon; two sisters: Debbie (Ron) Zimmer, St. Leon, and Karen Fox (Ray Brown), Cincinnati.
He also was preceded in death by brother Greg Andres and stepfathers Howard Hiltz and Charles Andres.
Memorial services were held March 1 by Father Scott Nobbe at the Parish Life Center, St. Leon. Military rites were conducted by St. Joseph American Legion Post 464. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements were handled by Andres-Wuestefeld Funeral Home, Dover. Memorials may be made to the Greg Andres Memorial Scholarship Fund or an East Central High School soccer scholarship.
