Sister Marcella Elizabeth Coors, 89

BATESVILLE — Sister Marcella Elizabeth Coors, 89, of the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg, died Tuesday, April 23, 2012, at the convent.

Born July 2, 1923, in Cincinnati, she was the daughter of Elizabeth (Luken) and Henry Coors.

She entered the convent Sept. 15, 1943, and made her final vows Aug. 12, 1949. Sister Marcella was an elementary and high school teacher and worked in the office at the St. Anthony Messenger before retiring in 2002. Schools she taught at include Holy Cross, St. Louis; Our Lady of Lourdes, Indianapolis; St. Mary’s, Greensburg; St. Gabriel’s, Connersville; St. Aloysius, St. Clement’s, Our Lady of Angels High School and Roger Bacon High School, Cincinnati; and Bishop Flaget School, Chillicothe, Ohio.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Sedgebeer and brothers Harry, Clement (Gus), Richard and Albert Coors.

Visitation is Friday, April 26, from 1-3 p.m. followed by funeral services officiated by the Rev. Carl Hawver, OFM, at the Motherhouse chapel. Memorials may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis.

Weigel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
