---- — Raymond Vogt, 65, Flat, Texas, formerly of Batesville, died peacefully Friday, July 19, 2013, at the VA Hospital, Temple, Texas.
On Aug. 28, 1947, he was born to Melvin and Oda (Broughton) Vogt, who preceded him in death.
Raymond was a loyal Dallas Cowboys football fan and a movie buff. He attended Sunman High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. In 1966 he enlisted in the Army and served two tours in Vietnam, then was honorably discharged in 1972. He formerly was a police officer in Batesville and a security officer at Jefferson Proving Grounds. He also worked for Texas Instruments and Coca-Cola, Temple, Texas.
Raymond is survived by two children: Sherrie (Keith) Sheets, Flat, Texas, and Eric (Wendy) Vogt, Gatesville, Texas; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his four brothers: Harold (Wanda) Vogt and Jerry (Glenda) Vogt, Batesville, Larry Vogt, Indianapolis, and Robert Vogt, Loveland, Ohio; his sister, Beverly (Francis) Lamping, Oldenburg; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 23, from 4-7 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home. Funeral services are Wednesday, July 24, at 10 a.m. at Adams Lutheran Church, Batesville. Burial immediately follows in the church cemetery with military rites.
