Lena Isabella Dramann, 103, Batesville, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013, at St. Andrews Health Campus.
She was born Nov. 8, 1909, to Frank and Anna (Kittenbrink) Lang in Versailles. The 1925 high school graduate married Gordon Burroughs June 15, 1940, and he died May 22, 1957. On Nov. 8, 1957, Lena married Bhuford L. Dramann, and he died Dec. 7, 1987.
Lena had been a member of Washington Baptist Church, Elrod.
Like most women living through the Great Depression, she learned to do what it took to keep life going, like cooking, canning and baking her own breads. She continued to work her magic in the kitchen, baking into her 90s. Lena enjoyed all kinds of needlepoint and quilting. She made many quilts for family members. Lena loved to play bingo and fish. In fact, for her 100th birthday, she celebrated by going fishing. Most of all, Lena loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lena will be missed by her four stepchildren: William (Martha) Dramann, Batesville, James (Karen) Dramann, Brownsburg, Joan Criswell, Lebanon, and Sarah Howell, Beaverton, Ore.; along with her 11 stepgrandchildren, 24 stepgreat-grandchildren and five stepgreat- great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Frances Dwenger; two stepgrandchildren; and her brother, Henry Lang.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 26, from 5-8 p.m. and the service is at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, at Meyers Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Flory officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery, Elrod.
Memorials may be given to Batesville EMS 10, Hospice of Margaret Mary Community Hospital or the cemetery.
