Joseph Paul Radvansky Sr., 84, Batesville, died Thursday, March 27, 2014, at the Indiana Veterans' Home, West Lafayette.

He was born July 25, 1929, in Philadelphia and married Barbara (Pilch) Radvansky in Chicago.

After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, he joined the Indiana State Police Department in 1956, and started the post in Versailles. Joe retired as a sergeant after 21 years in 1977. He served as the Batesville city judge from 1987-2007.

He was a member of St. Louis Parish, Knights of Columbus Council, Prell-Bland American Legion Post 271, Batesville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3183, 40 & 8, Fraternal Order of Police and Pioneers of Indiana State Police. The former Southeastern Indiana Solid Waste District board member and past 50-year Hillcrest Country Club member was one of the Immaculate Conception Academy athletic program founders.

In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by son Joe Radvansky Jr., Batesville; daughters Paula Ferree, Columbus, Joanne Siebert and Ann Lecher, Batesville; six grandchildren: Luke Ferree, Harlem, Ga., Sam Ferree, Fort Wayne, Megan Siebert, Batesville, Betty Johannigman, Greensburg, Raymond and Allen Lecher, Batesville; and a great-granddaughter: Quinn Johannigman.

The funeral is Thursday, April 3, at 4 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. A celebration of life will take place immediately following at the Batesville Knights of Columbus Hall. Memorials may be given to the American Legion, VFW or Knights of Columbus. Soller-Baker Funeral Home, West Lafayette, assisted the family.
