Dolories Norma (Firsich) Krieger, 87

Dolories Norma (Firsich) Krieger, Batesville, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014, at the age of 87. 

The daughter of Raymond and Martha (Goyert) Firsich was born in Batesville Aug. 22, 1926.

Before graduating from Batesville High School in 1944, she played on its first girls' softball team. On May 18, 1946, she married Frederick Krieger at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Crossroads. She was a good farm wife and homemaker for her family, living on their farm in Batesville for over 65 years.

Dolories was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Crossroads, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir and was a member of Lutheran League, Ladies Aid and Church Women United. She was also a charter member and strong lifetime supporter of the New Horizons Service Guild.

Dolories is survived by her loving daughter Kathleen (John) Westerfeld; sons Eugene (Mary Lou), Fred A. (Ann), Douglas (Esther) and Robert (Anita) Krieger; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother Thomas Firsich; aunt Pat Westerfeld; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Alvin Firsich, sister Florine Dillon, infant daughter Rebecca and daughter-in-law Kathleen (Kessens) Krieger.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 18, from 4-8 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Crossroads. Pastor William Powlen will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
