Peter J. Forthofer, 67, Sunman, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014.
He was born June 5, 1946, to Ralph and Mary (Riehle) Forthofer in Sunman.
Peter proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as part of the United States Marine Corps. He married Ann Holycross in 1977 and she preceded him in death Nov. 14, 2004. Peter worked at Cummins in Columbus in various capacities, and was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Sunman. Peter loved baseball, having played for many years. He was a devoted husband, wonderful brother and friend.
Those surviving who will honor Peter's memory include sisters Joanna (John) Kinker, Catherine (Russel) Niese, Rosemary (Bill) Theising and Vicki (Gary) Dudley, Sunman; sister-in-law Rosie Forthofer, Sunman; 20 nieces and nephews; 56 great-nieces and -nephews; and three great-great-nieces and -nephews.
Besides his parents and wife, Peter was preceded in death by his brother Raphael.
Visitation is Tuesday, March 18, from 4-8 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, Sunman. A rosary service will begin at 3:30. A Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Father Shaun Whittington, is at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
