Jeanne E. Dwenger, 83, Hamburg, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at her residence.
Born April 28, 1930, in Dearborn County, she was the daughter of Margaret (Crusse) and Joseph Cristman.
She was preceded in death by her spouses, Leo Benz Jan. 22, 1985; and Don Dwenger March 22, 2001.
She was the owner and operator of Jeanne’s Mini Mart, Hamburg, and a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church.
Through the years, Jeanne was very active in many capacities at the church. She loved working at the store and loved when people would stop by, whether it was a customer or someone from town who would drop by to visit with her. She loved planting and tending to her flowers. She could often be found watching her favorite soap opera in the afternoon and game shows throughout different times of the day. Jeanne loved to put puzzles together, do word searches and play solitaire.
She loved her family and truly enjoyed when they would all get together for family gatherings. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by daughters Deb Ostendorf, New Point, Linda Flannery, Batesville, Mary Curran, West Harrison, and Janet Mancarrella, Lawrenceburg; stepdaughter Paula Duenne, St. Peter’s; sons Steve Benz, Batesville, and Dave Benz, Versailles; stepsons Bruce Dwenger, Hamburg, Wayne Dwenger, Peppertown, and Brian Dwenger, Tennessee; sister Dellene Arnold, Cincinnati; 16 grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and spouses, she was preceded in death by sisters Joyce Cook and Joann Hastings and brother Jerry Cristman.
Visitation is Monday, March 10, from 9-11 a.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, Batesville. Funeral services follow at 11 a.m. there with the Rev. Bill Ehalt officiating. The burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Batesville Fire and Rescue Department or Batesville EMS 10.
