---- —

Naomi R. Peters, 87, Batesville, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at her home.

Born Aug. 2, 1926, in Napoleon, she was the daughter of Sadie (Heart) and Clyde Grow. She married Ellis Peters July 1, 1944, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Crossroads, and he preceded her in death April 28, 2012. She worked as a sales clerk at Carolyn’s Cameras for 30 years before retiring and was a member of Batesville United Methodist Church.

Among her hobbies, near the top was feeding and watching her birds. She especially enjoyed her hummingbirds. For years, she made arts and crafts and was still creating hand-painted Christmas ornaments this past holiday season. She used to crochet quite a bit and liked reading Nora Roberts novels. Her family teased that Naomi wasn’t the best cook, but she made up for it by preferring to eat out. They also mentioned she had a sweet tooth, watched the soap “Days of Our Lives” since it debuted in 1965 and that she loved traveling to horse shows with Ellis through the years.

Naomi is survived by her daughters, Vickie Smith, Columbus, Connie Schebler, Batesville, Judith Newman, Morris, and Jacqueline Peters, New Point; son Rick Peters, Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter Deborah Peters and brothers Clyde and Alvin Grow.

Visitation is Friday, Feb. 14, from 9-10:30 a.m. at Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services follow at 11 a.m. at Batesville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Dimick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Batesville Dialysis Activities Fund or Batesville United Methodist Church.
