Walter John Snyder, 90

Walter John Snyder, 90, of the Batesville community, passed into eternal life July 12, 2014, at his home.

Born Sept. 24, 1923, in McCreary County, Kentucky, he was the son of John and Gertrude (Harris) Snyder.

He graduated from Colerain High School in 1941. Walter was an avid farmer and most people knew him as “The Corn Man.” He wasn’t much on joining organizations because farming was his life. He sold his produce at the Lunken Airport Farmers Market, Cincinnati, for many generations. When he wasn’t in the fields, he was always talking with folks, and he never met a stranger. He was known to do anything for anyone. He also liked watching Western movies. Anyone that knew him would say he was a very hardworking person. His family and anyone who knew him will miss him very much.

Walter is survived by his loving wife of 55.5 years Lucille Cook Snyder; four children: Dian Snyder Keith (Tony) Reindolf, John Edward (Tina) Snyder, Walter “Wally” Eugene Snyder and Jimmy Dean (Betty Adams) Snyder. He will also be missed by his five loving grandchildren: Tony (Krista Gutzwiller) Keith Jr., Andy (Alicia Eckstein) Keith, Sara Diane Snyder, Lance Clayton Snyder and Gavin Ernest Snyder; and five loving great-grandchildren: Jordan, Dallas, Alexis, Jasmin and Walker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Claude, Ben, Mack and Rob and his sisters Edna, Ruth and Hazel.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 15, from 5-8 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville. Services will be Wednesday, July 16, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Clay Cook officiating at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Adams Church Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Adams Church Cemetery Fund. Online condolences may be made at
