Ralph Clark Stirn, 90, Batesville, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014, at The Waters of Batesville.
Born May 8, 1924, in Franklin County, he was the only child of Elvin and Caroline (Gard) Stirn. He married Eileen Schutte-Steingruber, and they lived on the farm.
Ralph served in the U.S. Army during World War II. The lifelong farmer was the custodian at St. Mark Lutheran Church for 20 years and a member there as well. He was also a member of American Legion Post 271 and Indiana Farm Bureau.
Ralph was very willing to help anyone, and he knew no strangers. His family was his pride and joy. Ralph could work on all kinds of equipment and fix almost anything. He loved to tinker in his workshop and made birdhouses and all kinds of woodworking items for others. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Ralph is survived by his wife Eileen; son Stephen (Brenda) Stirn; daughter Barbara (Rick) Lehmkuhl; stepson Stephen Steingruber; stepdaughters Sharon (Stephen) Bedal and Sue (Jerry) Mauer, along with seven grandchildren: Amanda, Sara, Matt, Renee, Curt, Stacy and Eric; and five great-grandchildren: Noah, Eli, Avery, Kaylynn and Jayla.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 17, from 11 a.m.-noon followed by the service at St. Mark Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jill Kepler Campbell officiating.
