Roger Howard Cook, 73

— Roger Howard Cook, 73, Roachdale, died peacefully Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012.

The son of the late Howard John and Sarah (Franke) Cook was born in Batesville March 31, 1939.

He graduated from Sunman High School and then graduated from Hanover College, where he was a Phi Delta Theta fraternity member. Roger received a master’s degree from Indiana University.

He retired from North Putnam Community Schools and later decided to teach again at Kingsway Christian School. The Roachdale Christian Church member served as a deacon and elder.

Roger met Barbara Jean Blaydes while teaching at Concord Metropolitan School District, Elkhart. They later married June 27, 1964, at Roachdale Christian Church. She survives.

Other survivors include his daughter, Krista Ann Cook Fuhrman, Roachdale; son Kevin Roger Cook and his wife, Heather, Roachdale; one brother, David H. Cook, Brookville; one sister, Harriet Bouchillon, El Cajon, Calif.; three grandchildren, Olivia McKenna Cook, Sarah Ottilea Fuhrman and Seth Roger Fuhrman; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 14, from 4-8 p.m., and services officiated by the Rev. Mick Buchanan will be Saturday, Dec. 15, at 10:30 a.m. at Roachdale Christian Church.

Burial will be at Roachdale Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church or Indiana University Simon Cancer Center, P.O. Box 660245, Indianapolis, IN 46266-0245. Online condolences may be posted at
