Marvin A. Thielking, 84

Marvin A. Thielking, 84, Batesville, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at St. Andrews Health Campus. 

Born April 24, 1929, in Batesville, he was the son of Louis and Marie (Siebert) Thielking. On May 9, 1953, he married Dorothy L. Wishmeyer at St. Louis Catholic Church. 

Marvin was a lifelong member of St. John United Church of Christ where he was involved in many of its activities and served as custodian for 20 years. Marvin was a 1947 graduate of Batesville High School, attended Ball State University and served his country in the U.S. Army as an intelligence analyst during the Korean conflict.

He was a 60-year member of Prell-Bland American Legion Post 271, Batesville, and was a former Batesville Community School Corp. trustee. He retired from Howard Barth & Associates, Greensburg, as a quality control manager. 

The avid sports fan liked IU basketball and the Cincinnati Reds and attended many BHS sporting events.

Marvin is survived by his wife; his son Ted (Kathy) Thielking, Columbus, Ohio; and his daughter Beth Thielking, Indianapolis. He will also be missed by his sisters-in-law Bette Thielking and Patricia Thielking and many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Allen, Russel and Edward Thielking.

Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 15, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. followed the service at St. John United Church of Christ with the Rev. David Johnston officiating. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at St. John Church Cemetery.
