Lawrence “Larry” Frey, 88

— Lawrence “Larry” Frey, 88, St. Leon, died Jan. 19, 2013, at Hospice Western Hills.

The son of the late Robert and Anna (Alig) Frey was born Nov. 9, 1924, in St. Leon. The U.S. Army World War II veteran married Doris Hahn Oct. 6, 1951, in Harrison, Ohio.

Larry worked as a General Motors machine repairman and after retirement enjoyed fixing things. The family joked that anything that was broke in St. Leon found its way to the Frey household.

His children learned from him by example on how to serve others in life and with faith. In his free time, he liked mowing grass, attending church, playing cards or enjoying a Bengals’ or Reds’ game.

Survivors include his wife; children Barbara Jo Ault, Robert (Peggy),  Betty Anne, Bill and Brian Frey and Bev (John) Stone; 13 grandchildren: Christopher (Edith) Ault, Jody (Jason) Sarringhaus, Kimberly (Christopher) Hall, Todd Ault, Jennifer (Adam) Hirsch, Jonathan, Stephen, Daniel and Nicholas Frey, Matthew (Allison) Hollin, Mari Kate, Drew and  Rachel Stone; seven great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Lily and Lydia Sarringhaus, Josephine Hall, Abigail Hirsch, Isabel and Lucille Hollin.

Visitation is Jan. 21, 4-9 p.m., and Jan. 22, 9-9:45 a.m., St. Joseph Parish Life Center, West Harrison. The funeral Mass officiated by Father Shaun Whittington follows at 10:30 a.m., St. Joseph Church there. Burial is at the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Masses at St. Joseph, St. Leon; St. John’s, Osgood; St. Al’s, Shandon; or St. Martin’s, Yorkville. Brater Funeral Home, Harrison, is handling arrangements.
