Edith Marie (Drees) Shaffer, 93

— Edith Marie (Drees) Shaffer, 93, Greenwood, went to be with the Lord Sunday, April 14, 2013.

The daughter of the late Harry C. and Elsie Drees was born May 22, 1919, in Indianapolis.

She was a graduate of Washington High School and Butler University. A 50-year member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and current member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, she retired from teaching at George Washington High School after 23 years.  Prior to teaching math, she was an industrial engineer at P.R. Mallory for seven years.

Surviving are children  Carole (Rich) Beasley and Lloyd A. (Jennifer) Shaffer; two grandchildren: L. Alan Shaffer and Myles B. Shaffer;  four great-grandchildren: Zebulon, Quinn, Lane and Ellie Shaffer; and brother Robert F. Drees.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Harold Shaffer, in 2004.

Visitation is Tuesday, April 16, from 4-8 p.m. at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home, State Road 135 and Olive Branch Road.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, April 17, at 10:30 a.m. at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 5171 W. Smokey Row Road, Greenwood, IN 46143, after additional visitation there from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Concordia Cemetery, Indianapolis, immediately following the service.
