Vercie Sizemore, 86

— Vercie Sizemore, 86, of 27084 Stipps Hill Road, Laurel, passed away at 4:50 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati.

The daughter of Robert and Maude Combs Allen was born Aug. 27, 1926, in Clay County, Ky.

She and her husband of 45 years, Earl, had farmed in Decatur and Franklin counties for many years.  Earl passed away July 8, 1990.

A longtime active member of the Buena Vista Christian Church, she was also an active member of the Liberty Bells Home Economics Club. Her passions were gardening, sewing, making quilts and caring for her family.

Survivors include three sons: Marvin (wife Jackie), Daryle (wife Cathy Jo) and Don; a daughter: Mary Robbins (husband Junior); eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Lois Harrison and Stella Deaton.  

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted at Buena Vista Christian Church on Stipps Hill Road, Laurel, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6. Officiating will be her longtime friend and church pastor, the Rev. John Johnson.  Friends may call at the church from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.
