Arthur C. Miller Jr., 92

— Arthur C. Miller Jr., 92, Batesville, died Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Margaret Mary Health.

Born Aug. 30, 1920, in Morris, he was the son of Loretta (Holdgreive) and Arthur Miller Sr. He married Jean Brunner Nov. 16, 1940, at St. Louis Catholic Church, and she preceded him in death Nov. 6, 1984. He was remarried Oct. 18, 1986, in Batesville to Dolores Green, who preceded him in death Jan. 15, 2008.

After serving in the Navy during World War II, he worked as an inspector at the Fernald power plant for 20 years and also as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 40 years. He was a member of St. Louis Church, Batesville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3183, Prell-Bland American Legion Post 271 and Knights of Columbus Council 1461.

Artie is survived by daughters Mellonne Gillman, Batesville, Deborah Schaefer, Holton, and Dena Miller, Charlotte, N.C.; sons Mac Miller, Batesville, and Kip Miller, Houston; brothers Earl and Bruce Miller, Batesville; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by brothers Floyd and Lawrence Miller.

Visitation is Friday May 31, from 4-7 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at St. Louis Church with the Rev. Randy Summers officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the VFW and American Legion posts. The family requests memorials to St. Louis School Tuition Angels or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
