Flannery seeks commissioner nomination

Bill Flannery is seeking the nomination for Ripley County Commissioner District 1 on the Republican ticket in the May primary, according to a press release.

The business development consultant attended Sunman Elementary School and later the family moved to Batesville, where he completed his elementary and high school education. Upon graduation, he volunteered six years of service to his country in the Army Reserves, while also working as a real estate broker and developer. He then enjoyed a 20-year sales and marketing career with Hill-Rom Co.

Service to his country combined with a successful business career prompted Flannery’s desire to give back through community involvement. The community volunteer is a Batesville Board of Works and Economic Development Commission member; Batesville Area Historical Society vice president; Cierra’s Club Fear Factory, which is sponsored by the Batesville Community Education Foundation, director; and Rural Alliance for the Arts member. He has also served as Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce president and continues to remain active within this organization.

The seasoned business professional comments, ‘‘Through my community involvement and business career, I’ve met and worked with many of our fine county residents. During my campaign, I look forward to meeting and listening to many more. I will bring a business mind and economic development background in serving as Ripley County commissioner. I welcome your support as I campaign for a position that will allow me to help continue moving our county forward.”

The father of two grown children, Shawn and Shanda, Flannery is married to Ginger, and the couple enjoy visits with their two grandchildren.
