Grants enhance many projects

---- — Franklin County Community Foundation leaders asked county charitable groups and organizations to each “make a wish” in July, reports executive director Shelly Lunsford. Thanks to income from endowments, many of those wishes have been granted.

Grants to Applicants

A total of $21,020 was awarded to organizations that went through the application process. These grants were selected by the grants committee to fund projects that followed FCCF’s guidelines as well as fit the criteria established by the donor when the fund was created. Names of endowment funds from which the grants came are in parentheses after the amounts.

• Family Connections, update Healthy Family Program curriculum, $1,000 (General Community Grants Endowment)

• Franklin County Arts Council, spring program, $1,250 (General Community Grants Endowment, Bath State Bank Unrestricted Endowment)

• Franklin County Historical Society, Little Cedar Church repairs, $3,200 (General Community Grants Endowment)

• Franklin County Special Olympics, refresh branding, $1,000 (Lloyd Ratz Handicap Endowment)

• Franklin County Women’s/Coed Softball League, dugout improvements, $2,745 (Cpt. Charles N. Fox USAF Memorial Endowment, General Community Grants Endowment)

• Indiana State Museum and Historical Sites, fifth-grade Civil War day, $1,000 (Otto Family Endowment, General Community Grants Endowment, Lloyd Ratz Handicap Endowment)

A total of $19,960 was awarded for designated grants. These grants were made from endowment funds that were established to support a specific purpose. The recipients did not have to apply for these grants.

A total of $11,247 in grants were made from endowment funds and pass-throughs that were established by donors to support specific purposes.

• Brookville Elementary Special Education Program, for programs for physically or mentally handicapped children, $210 (Colton Jacob Brewer Memorial Endowment)

• Three families dealing with the loss of dependent children, $9,687 (Olivia Rebecca Waggoner Memorial Endowment)

• Family dealing with childhood cancer, $1,350 (Bill & Marge Zimmer Family Endowment).
