The free Decatur County Memorial Hospital Spirit of Women Day of Dance, held during American Heart Month, takes place from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Decatur County Family YMCA, Greensburg.
Exhibitions will include strength, endurance and cardiovascular training, cycling, Zumba, yoga, Pilates, swing dancing, basketball, soccer, T-ball and jujitsu. Activities that involve dancing will feature merengue, salsa, cha cha, cumbia, swing, rock and roll, belly dance, flamenco, tango, Indian and Calypso-style music, reports coordinator Annie Wilkison, R.N.
She stresses activities are designed with a wide range of age groups in mind. “Day of Dance is extremely family friendly,” she says, adding that activities will be available for infants, seniors and every age group in between. Men, boys and girls are also invited.
Swimming and water-centric activities, including lessons, aqua boot camp, water jogging and aqua arthritis, will be offered.
A number of no-cost health screenings will also be available, such as screenings for blood pressure, body mass index, neuropathy and blood sugar. The first 400 attendees will receive a free boxed lunch, Wilkison adds. Info: www.dcmh.net/services/womensservices/spiritofwomen or 812-663-1325.
