Mark Bond is the new Batesville Christian Church minister of worship and discipleship, according to Steve Yeaton, senior minister.
As the job title implies, Bond’s primary focus is preparing and leading the congregation in worship each weekend. He says, “Our society worships a lot of things – kid’s activities, major league sports and even our lawns. We put in a lot of preparation, give extra attention to and schedule our time around things we value. I’m excited to be part of a congregation that desires to fix their eyes on Jesus and to make him known in the community of Batesville and around the world.”
His second area of focus is discipleship. He describes it as “leading others to follow Christ who lead others to follow Christ.” Bond is passionate that discipleship be “simple, reproducible and sustainable. I’m excited to lead some people who lead some people and on and on to see this community experience the joy of doing what Jesus called all of us to do in Matthew 28:19 which is make disciples.”
Prior to their time in ministry in the Joplin, Missouri, area, Bond and wife Rachel served in ministry for eight years in the Kansas City metro area. He has served in areas of leadership with churches ranging in size from 150-3,500. The family is looking forward to putting down roots in the smaller community of Batesville and serving here for many years to come.
