Members of Prell-Bland American Legion Unit 271 met at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post April 14 at 7:30 p.m. with President Marilyn Gausman presiding.
Secretary Sally Wilhelm read the minutes of the previous meeting which were approved as read. Wilhelm also gave the treasurer’s report which was filed for audit.
Thank yous were read from the Indiana Veteran’s Home and Gary Neff, the group’s sponsored resident there, for Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day cards and money sent. An Easter card and money were sent to Neff. In addition, get well cards were sent to Shorty Vinup and Randi Stirn and sympathy cards to Dot Thielking, Marge Kirschner and Barb Radvansky.
It was reported that Maggie Jones, a 29-year member, passed away, and her visitation was April 15 at Meyers Funeral Home. A donation was made to the Rehab Fund in her memory.
A nice profit was cleared on the March and final Sons of the American Legion shoot in April, and $471.32 was turned in for the year. Wilhelm reported turning in the annual report forms at the Bedford District meeting. Officers for the 2014-15 year will remain the same. Members present voted to donate the same amount as last year to the Boy Scouts.
The meeting was later adjourned, and tuna salad, Easter cookies and apple pie were served.
