Stan Wiedeman has declared his candidacy for Ripley County Commissioner District 1.
The 1983 East Central High School graduate is a lifelong resident of Ripley County and the Sunman area. He and his wife, Kim (Ammerman), have been happily married for 22 years and have a daughter, Paige.
Wiedeman is a Ripley County Chamber of Commerce, Sunman Area Chamber of Commerce and St. John’s United Church of Christ, Penntown, member. He sings in the church choir, is a Pastoral Search Committee member and has served as church board secretary, building committee president and treasurer and Heritage Fund treasurer. He is on Rising Sun Regional Foundation board of directors, has been an Indiana High School Athletic Association track and field official and is a volunteer high school assistant softball coach.
He is also the owner/operator of Wiedeman Heating & Electric, Sunman. In 1983, he and his brother, Scott, took over the family business.
By operating a small business for 30 years, as well as being an active member of his church, Wiedeman has fostered a close personal relationship with many members of the community. Serving on the RSRF board has strengthened his ability to look at both sides of an issue, working diligently to resolve it for the mutual benefit of all parties.
“As a leader, one must listen and be willing to work to understand the needs and desires of others. The best communicators are those who have exceptional listening skills. Without this skill, very little can be accomplished.”
“A good leader asks many questions, considers all options and leads in the right direction. Trust is at the core of respecting any leader. Communication and teamwork between elected officials is a must for the political process to work,” he points out.
