At the first 2014 Better Breathers Club meeting at Dearborn County Hospital, Lawrenceburg, Keith Allhands, assistant director of pharmacy services, will discuss “Medications for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.” The event is Thursday, April 17, from 1-2:30 p.m. in the hospital’s Dearborn Room.
“The COPD Foundation, American Medical Association and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services all have stated that COPD is now the third major cause of death in the United States,” explained Dianne Williams, pulmonary rehabilitation specialist and club coordinator. “Better Breathers helps individuals by providing patient-focused, community-based educational opportunities and support.”
The local chapter of the national Better Breathers Club is sponsored by the hospital and American Lung Association. Adults who suffer from asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, lung cancer, fibrosis and other respiratory illnesses are welcome to attend the free meeting. Participants may bring a family member or friend. Refreshments will be served.
