Eian Newton, a Mount Carmel Elementary School second-grader, “has a kind heart and big ideas for such a young lad,” reports Franklin County Humane Society volunteer Ruth Hughes. For his birthday, he asked friends and family to make donations to the society and raised about $52.
FCHS President Corey Crawford asked the boy how he came up with the generous idea. The student replied he was watching a Cincinnati TV ad encouraging people to donate to help stray animals, so he told family members what he wanted to do for his birthday and they helped him out.
“His mom, Becky, and younger brother Leo can be very proud that Eian thinks of the needs of others,” Hughes points out. “We feel that such unselfishness from a child should be noted and celebrated.”
