---- — Area artists are invited to participate in the fourth annual Batesville Regional Fine Art Fair Friday-Sunday, March 7-9, at RomWeber Marketplace, 7 S. Eastern Ave. “The show is being sponsored by the Ripley County Tourism Bureau to promote artists in the area, and encourage visitors to come see what Ripley County has to offer,” reports RCTB executive director Katherine Taul.

“We have been so excited and impressed with the quality of art produced by local artists during our past shows. We can’t wait to see what new artists join us this year and what they will be bringing to the public. We have had watercolor and oil artists, woodworkers, jewelers, pottery, weavers, glass blowers and etchers, all outstanding. The marketplace is a wonderful inside venue for the artists to display their work and we welcome all mediums,” she adds.

The very popular preview party will be held Friday, March 7, from 7-9 p.m. to allow visitors a chance to talk to the artists and have first choice of the art available. The cost is $10 per person, and includes a glass of wine and hors d’oeuvres. Reservations can be made by calling RomWeber Marketplace, 513-519-9936.

The show continues, free to the public, Saturday, March 8, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, March 9, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. with no admission charge and free parking.

A 10-by-10-foot space (no electricity) costs $50, with a discount if the artist donates a door prize. Tables and peg walls are available for rent.

“Artists have commented that the low fee, plus the indoor winter show made it an ideal opportunity for them to share their talents. It also allowed them to make some money to help pay fees for their other upcoming shows,” Taul notes.

Applications and more information are available by visiting www.romwebermarketplace.com; scroll to the bottom of the page, and follow the link to Art Show Application; or by calling the marketplace or Ripley County Tourism Bureau, 888-747-5394. Both online and printable versions are available.

The “By Hoosier Hands” booklet shows four art trails flowing through seven counties throughout southeast Indiana. The booklet highlights artists, craftpersons, specialty food items and restaurants, as well as places to stay along the trails. The $4 book will be available at the show, and is also available at the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce Welcome Center and RCTB Welcome Center, 220 E. U.S. 50, Versailles; or by calling the tourism bureau.
