Women in Agriculture conference April 2-3

The fifth Women in Agriculture Educators National Conference will take place Wednesday-Thursday, April 2-3 at the Sheraton Indianapolis City Centre.

The event will bring together private and public sector educators, crop insurance agents, lender and other agricultural professionals to share ongoing and emerging successful risk management education efforts directed toward women who are involved in production agriculture. Conference participants will learn about educational efforts that assist women producers and their families in effectively managing financial, production, marketing, legal and human risks associated with their agribusinesses.

A pre-conference seminar, Risk Management Education for Women in Agriculture: Lessons, Styles & Strategies, will be held Tuesday afternoon, April 1. It will focus on women’s learning styles, techniques for reaching women, common issues and best strategies in programming for women in agriculture.

The two keynote speakers are Jason Henderson and Celeste Settrini.

Henderson is the College of Agriculture associate dean and Purdue Extension director. He is a nationally recognized expert in agricultural and rural issues.

Settrini is fourth generation on her family’s red Angus ranch located in the foothills of the Salinas Valley on the central coast of California. She is the owner of CS Connections, a full-service boutique graphic and communications agency focusing on agribusinesses and individuals who wish to showcase their passions through various channels of media.

The cost for the conference is $135 ($160 after March 1) and the combined cost for the conference and pre-conference is $145 ($170 after March 1).
